Unit 4: 7th Chords
Last week you received 3 emails/videos from Master Guitar School:
In the 1st video I announced the upcoming release of Unit 4: 7th Chords from my method book, Vertical Truth: Chordal Mechanisms for the Guitar.
I emphasized that 7th chords are found in all styles of music and that if you want to play any kind of Pop, Blues, Rock (Classic or otherwise), Soul/R&B, Country, Jazz etc. then you need to know 7th chords. I named - off the top of my head - various artists/bands in multiple genres who use 7th chords: Doobies, Hendrix, Cream, Incubus, Jack Johnson, Smokey Robinson, Otis Redding, the Beatles etc.
I let you know that this product is a PDF download with:
-
31 pages
-
11 lessons
-
93 fretboard diagrams
-
17 music notation examples
-
20 demonstration videos with 100's of dynamic fretboard diagrams
I explained what is covered in this lesson series:
-
5 types: Major, Dominant, Minor, Half-Diminished, Full-Diminished
-
Dominant Suspensions and Minor Suspensions
-
Major and Minor 6th Chords with their inversions
-
All possible positions (3) on the neck for all the above
-
Many examples of common 7th chord progressions in every position applied to every key
I played you a 3-and-a-half minute video clip from the first lesson in the series wherein I taught you 5 types of 7th chords in 3 positions - 15 chord shapes in all.
I let you know that there was a video coming wherein I would teach you some specific songs from the artists/bands named above that used some of the 7th chords I showed you in the 3-and-a-half minute clip in the current video.
I talked about a common reaction; the feeling of being overwhelmed by the amount of material contained in this product. I encouraged you to not look at the big picture (you don't really know what the big picture is); the way I teach and present material is very linear - step-by-step-by-step - and you just look at one thing at a time in order. You could stop at any time and still have received massive value. For instance, you could take the 3-minute video clip I gave you for free - 5 types of 7th chords in 3 positions - and do nothing else; not look at any more of the videos coming - never buy anything from me - and yet you have already received massive value; you could study that clip and work on those chords for months and have vocabulary you didn't have before, which you can apply to whatever kind of music you want to play. Of course, you might want to let me help you apply those chords to the music you love - I can get you there more efficiently than you can on your own!
Finally, I encouraged you to go to the launch-specific blog and leave comments, questions, criticisms - whatever you want to talk about - I want a "launch conversation" going on. Communicate with me!
In the 2nd video I showed you some songs and parts of songs that use some of the 7th chords I showed you in the first video. The songs were:
-
Long Train Runnin' - the Doobie Brothers
-
Ooh Baby Baby - Smokey Robinson & the Miracles
-
Summer Romance (Anti-Gravity Love Song) - Incubus
-
Waiting on the World to Change - John Mayer
-
Sitting, Waiting, Wishing - Jack Johnson
-
Something in the Way She Moves - The Beatles
-
Michelle - The Beatles
-
Misty - Jazz Standard
-
Autumn Leaves - Jazz Standard
I also mentioned that I'm interested in people who understand the value of a systematic, step-by-step approach and are committed to the process I want to lead my site members through.
I talked about a big plan; how I'm releasing my method, Vertical Truth: Chordal Mechanisms for the Guitar one unit at a time, and that this release of Unit 4: 7th Chords is the next step in the series.
I addressed concerns of newer members who haven't purchased some of the earlier lesson series; I indicated I would provide some bundles that included the prerequisite lessons to Unit 4.
And finally, I asked you to go to the launch blog and leave comments and questions.
The 3rd video was just a quick webcam video talking about how this release is the next step in a very big picture; taking site members through 1,000 years of music evolution and how it applies to the guitar. The end result of this process is mastery - no lack of knowledge or understanding. The only thing that could hold you back is technique issues. Knowledge of music and the guitar neck will not be a problem.
I said that I'm looking for students/site members who understand and are committed to this process - the next step of which is Unit 4: 7th Chords.
I made the comment that there was going to be a time-limited special offer to site members only.
OK - SO HERE'S THE DEAL!
The retail price for the download is $100.00.
For the next 5 days site members can download it for $39.00!
That's more than 60% off - 61% to be exact! After that it goes public for full price. Even at full price it's still a great deal. This lesson series has 11 lessons. If you were taking one-on-one lessons from me and got through each lesson in a week (few could do that but let's assume 1 lesson = 1 week) you would spend $220.00 for lessons to get the same material - not counting the cost of the book!
For the next 5 days - $39.00!
This price is good for 5 days -
Monday, December 11 until midnight CST Friday, December 15
At midnight Friday, December 15, Unit 4: 7th Chords will go up on the website at retail price - $100.00.
What if I'm a new member and don't have the previous lesson series?
Is it still worth it to purchase Unit 4: 7th Chords?
First of all, you can go through Unit 4:7th Chords without any previous lesson series under your belt and still get tons of usable stuff - regardless of what you do or do not already know. That should be obvious by the massive amount of stuff you got from that 3-and-a-half minute clip in the 1st video last week - 5 types of 7th chords in 3 positions - 15 chord shapes in all. However, you will get the most out of any of my lessons if you have gone through the previous ones.
So...to accommodate this issue I'm going to offer a special Combo-Pack:
Unit 4: 7th Chords & Unit 3: Triads Combo-Pack for $59.00!
Unit 3:Triads retails for $100.00. The launch price to members only when it was first published was $39.00. With your purchase of Unit 4: 7th Chords you can add Unit 3: Triads for only $20.00 more!
If you missed the Triads launch last year you can view the pre-launch videos here:
The Unit 3 download contains:
-
38 pages divided into 8 lessons
-
253 fretboard diagrams
-
21 music notation examples
-
27 video demonstration links
If you took one-on-one lessons from me and we covered the material in the Triads lesson series it would cost you around $250.00 – assuming 3 months to get through the material; most people take longer. Now you can have it for a mere $20.00 with your purchase of Unit 4: 7th Chords.
For the next 5 days -
The Unit 4: 7th Chords/Unit 3: Triads Combo Pack is $59.00!
The value of one-on-one lessons for this combo would be $470.00!
The combined retail value of these downloads is $200.00! You pay $59.00!
These prices are good for the 5-day launch period which starts TODAY - Monday, December 11. This window of opportunity will close Friday, December 15 at midnight CST.
Furthermore:
All site members are prompted to go through the 5-Lesson Foundational Series. The result of mastering these 5 lessons is that you will be able to find any & every note any & everywhere on the neck. If you have gone through the 5-Lesson Foundational Series you can successfully complete the material in any Unit without necessarily having gone through the previous ones. Just to be clear; it IS best to go through the Units in order, but the 5-Lesson Foundational Series is the only essential prerequisite.
I feel so strongly about the necessity of every site member having a handle on the 5-Lesson Foundational Series that I want to offer it as a download - absolutely FREE! Now this material is and always has been offered for free to site members as web-page-based lessons. The downloadable PDF version retails for $19.00. But for this launch period - 5 days - you can download it for FREE and have it on the device of your choice for access any time at your convenience.
This will be a separate download from whatever else you purchase - OR - you can download this without purchasing anything!
You're welcome!
Further-furthermore:
Everyone who purchases Unit 4 will get the opportunity to download a FREE bonus video applying 7th chords to standards from the Real Book - as soon as I can get it done.
